Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Music presents the Boston University Symphony Orchestra and Treble Choirs performing Breaking the Silence: Rediscovering the Music of Elfrida Andrée, conducted by Sarah Ioannides. Featuring orchestral, vocal, and choral works by the pioneering Swedish composer and women’s rights advocate, the program includes multiple U.S., East Coast, and world premieres and culminates in Andrée’s Suffrage Cantata (1911). Joined by soprano Kristine Nowlain, this performance celebrates a remarkable composer whose music and advocacy helped shape cultural history.
